Public finance and economic policies are needed to “derisk” transition finance and attract more private capital for lower-emissions technologies, according to an independent review commissioned by the UK government.
Publishing its recommendations today, the Transition Finance Market Review, the body in charge of the study, has said that achieving a low-carbon transition at “speed and scale” requires greater incentives to crowd in private financing for decarbonising high-emitting, “hard-to-abate” sectors.
