When Betterment announced this week that investors with the robo-advisor will only be able to invest in crypto through exchange-traded funds, it could be seen as the latest sign of the institutionalization of the asset class.
Betterment says it is discontinuing its existing crypto portfolio options and that clients who wish to continue holding crypto investments in advised accounts will have to sell their existing assets and invest in a managed portfolio of crypto ETFs.
