Fantasy football turned into something of a nightmare for some players on Sunday, as ESPN’s premier application faltered on the first day of the National Football League season, leaving millions of users in the dark.

Numerous users —including a sitting U.S. senator—took to Twitter to complain that the application wasn’t working.

Almost five hours after first acknowledging the outage, ESPN Fantasy Sports tweeted that it had fixed the issue — but many irate fantasy users were far from placated.

Fantasy sports is an increasingly big business, with some 57 million active users having participated in 2015, according to Fantasy Sports Trade Association data. Some of the most zealous users have made six figure incomes on fantasy betting.

Last year, ESPN set a sports category record, with avid Fantasy users helping to boost its unique users to more than 94.4 million, according to comScore data.
