Show me the money: Canada looks to negotiate new climate finance goal at COP29 #CanadaFinance

Every COP has a theme.

Last year, the global climate summit made headlines for its agreement that included a promise to transition away from fossil fuels, while, the year before, countries reached a landmark deal on loss and damages, referring to the obligation of wealthier nations to compensate developing countries that have been hit hardest by climate change.

At COP29, which officially got underway earlier this week, the focus is on climate finance. Over the next two weeks, political and environmental leaders from around the world will congregate in Baku, Azerbaijan to negotiate a new target for mobilizing climate funding.
