In November 2024, a month shortened by the Thanksgiving break, 46 new ETFs were listed in the U.S. This was slightly lower than the monthly average of 60 new listings.
Table 1 summarizes the bond ETFs listed in the U.S. in November. This included the first set of corporate-laddered bond ETFs listed in the United States. These products, such as the iShares iBonds 1-5 Year Corporate Ladder ETF (LDRC)automate the bond laddering exposure for investors using equal weighted exposure to five iBond ETFs.
Equity ETF Listings in November
Table 2 summarizes the equity ETFs listed in the month, with eight of the new products being buffered ETFs. The buffered, or defined outcome, category has now grown to 328 ETFs with $58 billion in assets as of Nov. 30, 2024. The launches also included the unusually named Fundstrat Granny Shots US Large Cap ETF (GRNY)managed by the well-known fund manager Tom Lee. The name refers to an unconventional basketball free throw style, a reference to the fund’s methodology of using a combination of fundamental and quantitative factors.
Multi-Assets ETF Listings in November
The multi-asset category saw the launch of the Atlas America Fund (USAF)advised by well-known economist Dr. Nouriel Roubini. The fund is designed to address challenges such as monetary instability and geopolitical risks. It was one of four multi-asset ETFs listed in November.
