Avincis renews contract to operate Italy’s fire planes for $495 million #ItalyFinance

ROME (Reuters) – Avincis, Europe’s largest provider of emergency air services, said on Monday it renewed its contract with Italy to operate the country’s fire planes, for 479 million euros ($494.42 million) over the next seven years.

Under the deal, the group will operate 18 Canadairs, the largest fleet the world, owned by the national fire brigade, a statement said.

“We have been proud to operate this fleet for more than 20 years,” Roberto Marcolini, Avincis Managing Director Italy Fixed Wing Division, said in the statement.

The group, which has 180 bases across Europe, Africa and South America, provides helicopter ambulance services and search and rescue (SAR) and firefighting operations, as well as maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) activities.
