Telefonica Brasil SA (VIV) is Brazil’s largest telecommunications provider with approximately 75 million customers, 35 million of which are postpaid, the largest contract base in the country. With the stock down more than 35% since January, it is a bargain and could be both a short-term winner and long-term buy and hold as the Brazilian telecom market continues to grow. In the meantime, investors are going to collect a solid dividend yield, which is projected to be 12% but will more likely be in the 6% range based on historical payouts.
