Electric vehicle lease and financing deals have been notably improving since last year. With the influx of new and increasingly affordable EVs and rising inventory, there are plenty of great deals. If you buy or lease an EV or plug-in hybrid this fall, you’ll likely come across something that suits your taste and lifestyle.

Some of last month’s hot summer deals have now ended. But we’re still very much in the honeymoon phase of leasing or financing battery powered cars. September 2024 EV lease and finance offers come with loyalty bonuses, cash back and even conquest deals, wherein prices are reduced further for converting from a rival brand.

Not all September 2024 EV lease and finance deals are equally appealing, but we’ve included them for comparison and we’ll update this list monthly. 

Note that the deals may vary substantially by region. Most prices here use a New York City zip code, so you could find cheaper deals elsewhere. If you find a model in your neighborhood, we recommend checking your local dealer’s website for the most accurate pricing.

Some great EV lease deals include those from Hyundai, Kia, Nissan, Subaru and Tesla. Just like the last month, the most jaw-dropping deals are on cars like the Kia Niro EV, which you can still lease from $149 per month for 24 months with $3,999 due at signing. If you want something more modern, you can snatch a Hyundai Ioniq 5 for $159 per month for 24 months with $3,999 due at signing.

The Nissan Ariya continues to be a pretty sweet lease deal at just $169 per month. The Tesla Model 3 continues to be as attractive as ever, with leases available for under $300 per month and low APR financing.

When you lease a new car, the tax credit goes to the lender and is often applied against the lease to offer the buyer a discount. The tax credit also applies to all EVs regardless of where the car and its battery materials come from, which isn’t true if you buy. That means leasing can be the smart move on cars like the Ioniq 6, which won’t get the credit if you buy it outright. Just be sure to go over all the details related to the tax credit before signing any paperwork.

Keep in mind that if you choose to lease instead of buy, you won’t have to worry about whether or not your personal tax situation allows you to take advantage of the credit.

Remember that the best deals also typically apply to individuals with excellent credit ratings. Moreover, the best manufacturer-sponsored incentives are often reserved for returning lessees or people who currently drive competitor products.

There are likely additional incentives out there, specific to certain regions or dealerships (if the brand has dealerships) You just have to take the time and do your homework. Some automakers are still offering deferred payments, even if it’s not noted above or on their websites.

Also, keep in mind that used EVs are available with reasonable deals as well and that the market is finally seeing a notable drop in prices. There’s even a new $4,000 point-of-sale federal incentive that your used EV may qualify for.
