With the incoming administration only two months away, crypto savants like Benchmark Managing Director & Senior Research Analyst Mark Palmer are focused on how the entire sector could rapidly change. Palmer spoke with Yahoo Finance Executive Editor Brian Sozzi on Opening Bid, touching on his hopes for the kinds of changes the country would see with a new administration.
Palmer explained that the foremost expectation is that crypto policing will change. “The SEC under Gary Gensler as commissioner has used what’s known as ‘regulation by enforcement,’ which is a way of saying that they really didn’t have a framework through which they were regulating the space… This has been a big problem from the standpoint of institutional adoption because if you’re an institutional investor, the last thing you want to do is get involved in an emerging asset class and suddenly have a federal regulator come in and shut down your project.”
