Lisa Neatherway became one of the nearly 30,000 people to lose their jobs in finance earlier this year. Living south of Melbourne, the financial crimes specialist found herself redundant as her employer, Commonwealth Bank, shifted her job to Sydney, a move she was unprepared to make because it would require uprooting her life and family.
It was a stressful time for the 50-year-old, who had to consider leaving an industry where she had worked for two decades to support her husband, her son and his partner – all of whom live under the same roof. Ms Neatherway said the “writing was on the wall” amid huge bank restructures.
