In a statement, Julia Leja, a spokesperson for the mayor’s campaign, said Gregory Lally is not a member of the host committee and that “an earlier draft had a mistake which has been corrected.”

The members of the host committee, which Leja said is in formation, include Clerk Mike Donovan, Angel Feng, Steve Hollinger, Kevin Lally, Vincent Lau, Tom Tinlin, Dr. Robert Emmet Morris, Nancy and Simon Pongratz, Eddie Regan, Emily Sy, Langdon White, and Emily Yu.

Jason Tait, the communications director for the Massachusetts Office of Campaign and Political Finance, declined to comment on the specific case or confirm any receipt of complaints. However, he did elaborate on the rules for public employees.

“The law prohibits appointed and compensation public employees from soliciting or receiving funds, directly or indirectly, for any political purpose,” Tait said in a statement. “Our general advice has been that public employees may not host fundraisers.”

The RSVP link for the event Wednesday solicited donations from supporters of up to $1,000, the annual campaign contribution limit from individuals to a candidate, according to Massachusetts campaign finance law.
