Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) appoints ITA Airways Board of Directors #ItalyFinance

Joerg Eberhart and Lorenza Maggio have been appointed today by the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) to the five-member Board of Directors of ITA Airways.

Joerg Eberhart (54) has been responsible for the strategic development of the Lufthansa Group as “Head of Strategy & Organizational Development” since 2021. In this role, he was largely responsible for the participation in ITA Airways. From 2014 to 2021, Joerg Eberhart was President and CEO of the Italian airline Air Dolomiti, which is also part of the Lufthansa Group in the past 26 years. At the same time, Eberhart also headed Lufthansa CityLine GmbH in Munich as Managing Director from 2015 to 2019. Since 1 January 2019, he has been focusing on strategic projects in Italy in addition to his role at Air Dolomiti. He has been a lecturer in air traffic management at the university “Politecnico di Milano” for several years.

Lorenza Maggio (47) has been Vice President Sales EMEA Lufthansa Group Airlines since January 2024. In this role, she was responsible for all commercial and sales activities of the Lufthansa Group’s passenger airlines in Europe (outside the home markets), the Middle East and Africa. She also managed and developed the global sales programs and tools, as well as the sustainability strategy and projects for corporate customers. In addition, she was steering the Lufthansa Group’s global sales communications. Previously, Lorenza Maggio was responsible for the brand and customer strategy at Eurowings and was Managing Director of a subsidiary of the LSG Group. The Italian has been working internationally for the Lufthansa Group in various divisions since 2001.
