State Street Global Advisors, the asset management business of State Street, has announced the appointment of Dohei Echizenya as the new head of Japan.
Echizenya’s responsibilities will further expand on 11 December 2024, when he assumes the position of president and representative director of State Street Global Advisors Japan.
Echizenya, who will be based in Tokyo, will report directly to Kevin Anderson, the head of Asia Pacific for State Street Global Advisors.
Tasked with refining and implementing growth strategies, he is expected to bolster the firm’s presence in Japan.
With over three decades of experience in the financial services industry, Echizenya’s expertise spans developing strategy and managing complex, scalable, and growth-oriented businesses.
His previous roles include leading the client business division in Japan at BlackRock and spearheading its ETF department.
Echizenya also spent a decade working at Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs in the US.
State Street Global Advisors Asia Pacific head Kevin Anderson said: “Japan is an important market for State Street Global Advisors, and we see tremendous opportunities as the government implements various measures to promote Japan as leading asset management center.

State Street Global Advisors, which manages $4.73tn assets, offers a range of active and index strategies to institutional and intermediary clients.
Recently, State Street Global Advisors partnered with Bridgewater Associates to expand access to core alternative investment strategies for a broader investor base.
