Lolita Dolar, a beloved teacher from Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on July 25, 2024, at the age of 84. Her remarkable journey began on June 25, 1940, in Santa Barbara, Iloilo, Philippines, where she faced challenges early in life but turned them into stepping stones for success.
A Humble Beginning
Lolita was the second youngest of four siblings, born to Patrocinio and Matea Viejon. After losing her father during the war, her mother worked tirelessly as a teacher to support the family, setting a powerful example of resilience and dedication.
- Education Struggles: While Lolita started high school at Central Philippine University, financial difficulties led her to complete her education at Sta. Barbara Central High School.
A Passion for Teaching
Lolita pursued her dream of education by enrolling in the Education Program at Iloilo Normal School (now West Visayas State University). After graduation, she taught in Buyahon and later returned to her hometown to inspire young minds at Sta. Barbara Central Elementary School.

A visitation is scheduled for August 8, 2024, from 4-7 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis. Services in the Philippines will follow, where she will be laid to rest in her hometown.
