Beyond earning and redeeming points, the JetBlue Plus Card includes numerous benefits that make the card worthwhile for JetBlue travelers.

On JetBlue flights, you and up to three travel companions on the same reservation get the first checked bag for free.

JetBlue has four levels of Mosaic elite status, with different perks for each level. To reach these tiers, you must earn “tiles” based on your spending with the airline, its partners, or a JetBlue credit card. For every $1,000 you spend on the JetBlue Plus Card, you’ll receive one tile. Earn 50 tiles to reach the first level of Mosaic status.

During your JetBlue flight, you’ll receive a 50% statement credit on all inflight food and drink purchases. Eligible purchases include beer, wine, cocktails, and meals. However, other purchases, such as pillows and earphones, don’t count.

When you redeem points for award flights on JetBlue, you’ll receive a 10% rebate on your points after you take the flight. For example, if you redeem 50,000 TrueBlue points to book a flight, you’ll receive 5,000 points when the flight is complete.

JetBlue has expanded its international destinations over the last few years. It now flies to the Caribbean, Latin America, the U.K., France, and the Netherlands. Bring your JetBlue Plus Card with you to earn additional points since it doesn’t charge foreign transaction fees on purchases made outside the U.S.

There are multiple ways to earn rewards with the JetBlue Plus Card, including the anniversary points and your purchases.

  • JetBlue purchases: You’ll earn 6x points when paying for flights, upgrades, in-flight purchases, and other JetBlue purchases made directly with the airline. For frequent travelers on JetBlue, this is the best way to earn points on flights.

  • Other spending: The JetBlue Plus Card also earns bonus points on other purchases. You’ll get 2x points on every dollar you spend at restaurants and eligible grocery stores. Warehouse-type stores such as Target, Walmart, and Costco typically don’t apply. On all other purchases, you’ll receive an unlimited 1x points. Even when you’re not spending money at JetBlue or on bonus categories, you’ll earn one TrueBlue point for every dollar spent.

  • Anniversary bonus: Each year you renew the card and pay the annual fee, you’ll receive 5,000 anniversary points. Worth at least $50, this bonus alone can cut the annual fee in half.

After earning points from the JetBlue Plus credit card, you have numerous options to redeem them. Here are a few of the best options for your rewards.

  • JetBlue flights: TrueBlue members can redeem points for any JetBlue flight. Award flights are available for any seat at any time, with no blackout dates. However, you cannot redeem points to book Blue Basic fares.

  • JetBlue Vacations packages: When booking a JetBlue Vacations package, your points can cover flights, hotels, and car rentals. During your search, select points instead of cash to redeem rewards for some or all of an eligible reservation.

  • Cash + Points flights: Many TrueBlue members don’t have enough points to cover the entire cost of their trip, or they’re saving their points for other redemptions. With Cash + Points, you can use nearly any combination of points and cash to pay for your reservation. This payment option is available for all JetBlue flights, except when booking a Blue Basic fare.

  • Redeem points on other airlines: Because JetBlue partners with Hawaiian Airlines and Qatar Airways, you can earn and redeem TrueBlue points on these flights. Search for flights online at JetBlue.com or through the airline’s mobile app, and eligible Hawaiian and Qatar flights will appear in the search results.

  • Points Payback: Although the best value for your points is usually booking a flight or vacation package, Points Payback allows cardholders to redeem points for statement credits on purchases made within the last 90 days.

The JetBlue Plus Card is best for travelers who want to maximize rewards and benefits on JetBlue flights. It earns 6x points on JetBlue purchases and includes money-saving perks like the first checked bag free and a 50% discount on inflight purchases.

Frequent or even occasional JetBlue fliers will likely find it easy to offset the card’s annual fee. After factoring in the 5,000 bonus anniversary points each year, you’d only need to take advantage of two free checked bags to cancel out the card’s cost.

  • Easily attainable welcome bonus

  • Free checked bags

  • Anniversary bonus points when renewing the card

  • Earn Mosaic status based on everyday spending

  • Redeem points on any JetBlue flight

  • No travel or purchase protections

  • Intro APR offer does not include purchases

  • JetBlue flies to limited destinations

The JetBlue Plus Card can be used anywhere that accepts Mastercard as a form of payment. Mastercard is widely accepted in the U.S. and across the globe, so if a merchant accepts credit cards, it is likely that you can use your JetBlue credit card there. The card does not charge foreign transaction fees, so there are no hidden charges when making purchases outside the U.S.

The JetBlue Plus Card is an excellent choice for travelers who are loyal to the airline. But with an annual fee and a limited number of destinations, these alternative travel cards may be a better option.
