Barclays has issued a warning to its customers after a man had an issue using the bank’s app.
The man got in touch with the bank over X to ask: “My Dad has tried two brand new tablets today, an Acer and Samsung, and neither was compatible with the app? What’s that about Barclays?”
Barclays said in response: “Unfortunately Android tablets aren’t compatible with our Barclays app. If you let us know what your father would normally use the Barclays app for we can provide alternatives for him.”
The man responded to say he had an old Lenovo tablet that uses Android and the app was working on that. He asked if this was a “new issue” with Android devices not having access.
The man said that his dad wanted to make payments and check his accounts. He explained: “It is definitely the normal app not the Barclaycard one on my tablet as I’ve used it. It was also originally on his Android phone.”
A representative of the bank then said: “He’ll still be able to do all those things through online banking does he have access to this? If not you can find out how to log in to online banking over on our website.
“If you also let us know what banking your father was planning to do through the Barclays app we can support him further with this.”
The bank sent a link to this webpage with information about how to register for online banking.
To register for online banking, you will need to provide some personal details and information about the account you hold with Barclays.
