The Chair of UK Finance, Bob Wigley, has become a Senior Advisor at Oliver Wyman, one of the leading consulting firms in the financial services industry.
In his new role, Bob Wigley will advise the Financial Services practice of Oliver Wyman on a range of strategic topics, helping to shape the practice’s vision for the future of the industry. He will also help the strategy and management consulting firm expand its network of executives and leaders in the sector, and provide counsel to its key engagements at banks and other financial institutions.
Wigley will combine the advisory role with his position as Chairman of UK Finance, a trade association for the financial services sector that represents over 300 organizations with HM government and regulators. He also will remain active as a non-executive board member and in the academic world – Wigley is a visiting fellow at Oxford University’s Said Business School, and an honorary fellow at Cambridge University’s Judge Business School.
Commenting on his appointment, Wigley said: “I have worked with Oliver Wyman for over a decade as a client and have long admired their deep expertise and impact on the industry’s biggest challenges. I look forward to now working with Oliver Wyman and their clients to help shape the future of the financial services industry.”
That client-consultant relationship was built during his six years at the helm of UK Finance and during earlier spells in his career. Across his 25 years in the banking industry, Wigley spent around a decade at investment banks, including Merrill Lynch where he grew the ranks to become EMEA Chairman. He also served as a court member of the Bank of England during the global financial crisis.
Ronan O’Kelly, Head of Corporate & Institutional Banking for Europe at Oliver Wyman, said the firm is delighted to welcome a leader with Wigley’s stature to its network. “Bob brings a wealth of experience in leading and advising some of the world’s top financial services institutions, across both private and public sectors. Given his unique perspective on the strategic future of the sector, he will be of great value to our clients as we partner with them on their next challenges.”
Oliver Wyman has around 7,000 consultants in 50+ offices around the world. In the UK, the firm ranks as one of the leading players in the banking sector.
